All the air that enters your car, when the windows are up, comes through the cabin filter (a.k.a. dust and pollen filter). A lot of air goes through the filter each day for months and even years at a time. Although the cabin filter does its best to filter out pollen, dirt, debris, bits of trees, and rodents, it eventually gets clogged. Although the recommended change interval is 12K -15K or 1 year on most Audi and Volkswagen models, many enthusiasts recommend replacing the filter twice a year, during the Spring and Fall seasons. It’s a 5 minute job and does not require any tools! What could be easier?

Instructions
Step 1
The cabin air filter is located on the passenger side of the engine bay along the firewall. First, loosen or remove the weather stripping that goes across the engine bay.
Step 2
Remove the plastic cover that protects the cabin air filter housing by sliding it away from the firewall.
Step 3
After removing the plastic cover, take off the cabin air filter housing cover by releasing the clips.
Step 4
Once the housing cover is off, remove the old cabin air filter and install the new one.
Step 5
The installation of all removed parts should be done in the opposite order of removal. When installing the new filter, make sure the arrows on it are pointing down in the direction of the air flow. Also, ensure the housing cover is seated correctly. It must be clipped in at both catches. Note: If you do not clip it in at both catches, water will run on dust and pollen filter and into A/C unit.
Step 6
You are done!
